Check Your Freezer—Aldi Recalls Popular Product in 13 States

If you’ve picked up frozen snacks from Aldi recently, you’ll want to double-check your freezer. A fan-favorite sweet treat—Casa Mamita Churro Bites—has just been recalled across 13 states due to a potentially serious allergen concern. While no illnesses have been reported so far, the recall has stirred concern among Aldi shoppers with food allergies, particularly those sensitive to milk.

What Is Being Recalled

The recall involves Casa Mamita Churro Bites filled with chocolate hazelnut cream. These treats were sold in select Aldi stores across the following states:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Iowa
  • Illinois
  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Missouri
  • Mississippi
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee

The affected packages are labeled with a “Best if used by” date of July 14, 2025, and carry Lot Number 01425 on the packaging.

Why It Is Recalled

The parent company, Camerican International, issued the voluntary recall after discovering the churro bites contain undeclared milk—a critical issue for anyone with milk allergies or lactose intolerance. The company stated that the allergen warning was omitted due to a temporary breakdown in its production and packaging processes, which has since been corrected.

Undeclared allergens are a top cause of food recalls, and milk is one of the most common. According to the Mayo Clinic, even small amounts of milk can trigger reactions in sensitive individuals, ranging from hives, swelling, and shortness of breath to anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening allergic response.

Recommendation

If you have Casa Mamita Churro Bites in your freezer, check the best-by date and lot number immediately. If it matches the recalled product, do not consume it—especially if you or anyone in your household has a milk allergy. Instead, return the product to your nearest Aldi for a full refund.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t Aldi’s first food recall this year. Just last month, Santa Monica Seafood recalled its Atlantic Salmon Portions with Seafood Stuffing in three states over undeclared soy—a reminder that food recalls continue to rise nationwide. In fact, 2024 saw over 300 food recalls linked to nearly 1,400 illnesses, according to the Public Interest Research Group.

While no illnesses have been reported in this current case, it’s a strong reminder to always check food labels—and your freezer. If you’re ever unsure about a product, it’s best to play it safe and return it.

Stay informed, stay safe, and always double-check your groceries.
