How To Get A Walmart Discount Card?
In order to be eligible for a Walmart Associate Discount Card, you must be employed by Walmart for 90 consecutive days. On your 91st day of employment, you and your legal spouse or domestic partner both become eligible for a discount card.

Do You Need To Activate the Discount Card?
Once you receive your discount card in the mail, you will need to log in to your Walmart.com account and register your card under the “Discounts and Promotions” tab on your account dropdown menu.
Once your card is registered, you can use it to shop for discounts on Walmart.com and at any Walmart location.
How To Use The Walmart Discount Card?
To use your registered Walmart Discount Card, simply follow these steps:
- Shop for eligible items on Walmart.com or at any Walmart location
- At the register or self checkout station, scan your card or present it to the cashier
- Your 10% discount will be applied to all eligible items in your order
If you are shopping online, you will automatically be registered as a Walmart associate once your card is registered with your account. From there, any qualifying purchases you make online will automatically receive the 10% associate discount.
Where Can You Use The Walmart Discount Card?
Your Walmart Associate Discount Card can be used both in store at Walmart or on Walmart.com.
The following categories of items are eligible for discounts with a discount card:
- Fresh produce
- Regularly priced general merchandise
- Regularly priced pharmacy prescriptions not covered by insurance
The following categories of items are not eligible for discounts with a discount card:
- Sale, clearance, or marked-down items
- Most grocery items (other than fresh produce)
- Eye exams in vision centers
- Items bought using a tax-exemption ID number
- Items bought for company use when Walmart is reimbursing the expense
- Gasoline purchases
- Items bought for charitable events if the associate receives money to buy items or will be reimbursed
Walmart Discount Cards cannot be used at stores other than Walmart, including Sam’s Club.

Can family members use Walmart discount cards with consent?
Yes, as long as they are your legal spouse or domestic partner (including same-sex partners).
Can you still use Walmart discount cards after you resign?
No. Your Walmart discount card will automatically stop working when your employment ends. To be eligible for a long-term service Associate Discount Card, you must be over the age of 55 and have worked at Walmart for at least 15 continuous years.
Does a Walmart discount card work on prescriptions?
Yes, as long as your prescription is not already being covered (even partially) by your insurance.
How do you get Walmart’s long-term service discount card?
The following information is provided by Walmart.com:
“You may qualify for a long-term service Associate Discount Card if:
- You weren’t terminated for cause; and
- You’re at least 55 years of age and have 15 years or more of continuous service with the company, or you have a minimum of 20 years of continuous service at any age.
In the event of your death, your spouse may be eligible for their own Associate Discount Card for one year. If you were long-term service eligible at the time of your death, then your spouse may be eligible for a lifetime long-term discount card. The Walmart Discount Card is a major perk of being employed by Walmart. Even though it can’t be used on clearance or most food items, it still gets employees a 10% discount on full-priced merchandise from electronics to toys to clothing. You must work at Walmart beyond your 90-day probation period in order to have access to a discount card, and you will lose your discount if you stop working at Walmart. If you work at Walmart for 20 continuous years or more (or 15 continuous years if you are over the age of 55), then you may qualify for a long-time service Walmart Discount Card.
