Aldi Italian Week is almost here!
Aldi will feature lots of food items imported from Italy during its upcoming Aldi Italian Week, running Sept. 4-10, 2019.
Aldi’s Italian Week is a semi-regular occurrence, and it’s a great time for us to stock up on some favorites. Here are the first items we’ll be putting in our cart:
Appleton Farms Diced Prosciutto and Appleton Farms Diced Pancetta – $2.99
It is hard to beat Aldi’s price for these Italian deli favorites. We love the prosciutto on pizza and the pancetta is wonderful in fall soups!
Sundae Shoppe Pistachio Biscotti Gelato – $3.89
This is an amazing dessert! We absolutely love the pistachio biscotti flavor, and our experience is that this stuff flies out of the freezer case anytime it’s available. There’s also a chocolate fudge truffle flavor that’s great for chocolate lovers!
Carlini Extra Light Olive Oil – $2.49
While Aldi carries Extra Virgin Olive Oil as a regular buy, other varieties of olive oil are only available as Aldi Finds. We like stocking up on this extra light olive oil to use in recipes where we want a more neutral flavor than our standby EVOO.
Specially Selected Truffle Fagottini Pasta – $1.99
We love all things Truffle here at the Aisle of Shame, and we can’t wait to get our hands on these little filled pasta sacks! There are also sundried tomato and roasted red pepper varieties.
Specially Selected Chili Pesto – $2.49
This red pesto is great tossed with a simple pasta, but we especially like to use it to flavor egg dishes like frittatas and omelets. There are two more special varieties of pesto coming — calabrese (spicy!) and grilled vegetable, which sounds like it would be great as a sandwich spread.
Here are some other Aldi Finds to keep an eye out for during Italian Week:
- Specially Selected Cracked Pepper Fettuccine or Garlic Herb Linguini
- Priano Gourmet Pasta Sauces in special varieties including Italian Sausage and Peppers, Vegetable Primavera, and Spicy Garlic Arrabbiata
- Priano Eggplant Parmigiana or Vegetable Lasagna
- Specially Selected Balsamic Vinegar and Rosemary or Pancetta and Parmesan Kettle Chips
- Barissimo Cafe Espresso Blend Ground Coffee
- Mama Cozzi’s Pizza Kitchen Chicken Parmesan Pizza
- Journey to Italy Sparkling Italian Soda
And while we’re at it, we’ll tell you about one item we won’t be buying during this Aldi Italian Week. We’ve never had much luck with the Priano Gnocchis. Have you? If so, please share your secrets!
