This sea salt caramel Aldi cookie dough is in stores now!

When we spotted this in our Aldi store, we knew immediately it was going in the shopping cart.

Bake House Creations Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough is an Aldi Special Buy item that has been appearing in stores over the last week or two. It is a 16-ounce package that makes 12 large cookies. At our store, it was priced at $2.49 (prices may vary depending on location).

Preparing This Aldi Cookie Dough

To prepare these cookies, you preheat the oven to 350 degrees, put on a cookie sheet, and back for 12 to 14 minutes. Ovens vary, but we needed to bake for the full 14 minutes to get beyond the doughy stage. They were still plenty soft and gooey.

These cookies contain both chocolate chips and chunks of sea salt caramel, as the name promises. They are chock full of them, and these things truly taste homemade. Everyone in our family loved them.

Sea Salt Caramel Cookie Review

And this is where we might normally post a pretty picture of the prepared cookies, looking delicious and just waiting to be eaten. But not now, my friend. Oh no. Because this, my friend, is a cautionary tale.

Remember those directions above? Well the directions on the package also say to place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Not greased. Not waxed paper. It’s very specific: parchment paper.

Did I line a baking sheet with parchment paper when preparing this Aldi cookie dough?

No. No, I did not.

And friend, I’m here to tell you that the parchment paper thing? It is no way optional. The very delicious cookies I baked on a wax paper-lined baking sheet were stuck to the pan anywhere that gooey caramel was touching it.

So my family did not, in fact, enjoy 12 freshly baked cookies last night. Instead, we enjoyed a pile of cookie scraps that I gingerly scraped off the pan.

Please, buy the Bake House Creations Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough. We highly recommend it! But let our experience be a lesson and follow the package directions!
