Tips when renting a wheelchair

If you require a wheelchair but don’t know where to start, here are some tips to help you select one.

  • Ensure the wheelchair is the right size and fits your needs.
  • Ask whether they will deliver or if you need to pick it up.
  • Know about the rental price in advance.
  • Ensure that the wheelchair is insured in case of any damages.
  • Know about any other conditions or restrictions.

How Much Does It Cost To Rent Wheelchairs?

The cost of renting a wheelchair depends on several factors, including the type of wheelchair, how long you need it, and your location.

For example, renting a standard wheelchair at Scootaround will cost you $15 in Las Vegas, $30 in New York, $13 in Orlando, and $27 per day in Washington, D.C. These costs are applicable on a minimum of three-day rental.

Renting a wheelchair at 1800wheelchair will cost you $50-$100 per day, $100-$150  per week, and $150-$250 per month. From these figures, it’s clear that renting a wheelchair at 1800wheelchair is more economical for longer periods than for a short time.

Can you really save if you rent instead of buying a wheelchair?

Before answering this question, let’s consider why you may want to rent a wheelchair. Some of the reasons for renting a wheelchair include a short-term injury, travel, and if you want more flexibility.

Since a standard manual wheelchair costs around $500, you may opt to rent it if you plan to use it for a short time, like when traveling. But if you have a long-term injury, buying would be more logical than renting one.
