Costco Is The Best Place To Buy Frozen Breakfast Sandwiches

If you’re like me, then you can’t resist a good breakfast sandwich. That perfect mixture of savory meat, fluffy egg, and melty cheese is the absolute best way to start the day.

But breakfast sandwiches don’t just have to be a special occasion treat. If you shop at Costco, you can find massive boxes of breakfast sandwiches in the frozen section to help fill your savory breakfast craving anytime.

At my local Costco, I found three different types of breakfast sandwiches in the frozen section…

Costco has also been known to carry a Bacon, Gouda, & Egg Breakfast Sandwich from a brand called Grace Gourmet for $13.49 a box.

The Grace Gourmet Bacon, Gouda & Egg Sandwich has been called a dupe for the Starbucks breakfast sandwich made with the same basic recipe. Unfortunately, I was unable to find these popular breakfast sandwiches at my local Costco, and they’re also not currently being sold on Costco.com.

If you live in Canada and shop at the Costco Business Center, you can also find a box of 12 bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches in the frozen section from a company called Eat In. They’re available online here, but you won’t be able to view the price or order them without a Costco Canada membership.

In each sandwich, you will be consuming 400 calories from 26 grams of fat, 115 mg of cholesterol, 580 mg of sodium, 28 grams of carbs, 5 grams of sugar, and 13 grams of protein.

Between the super high sodium and cholesterol content and the inclusion of many highly processed and potentially genetically modified ingredients, these Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches definitely aren’t going to make it onto anyone’s healthiest foods list.

They contain wheat, milk, soy, and eggs, meaning that they are not gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, or dairy free.

Attempting to stick to a slightly “healthier” recipe, these Jimmy Dean English Muffin breakfast sandwiches are made with the following ingredients…

As you can see, this ingredients list is quite long and includes several ingredients that don’t have the best reputation for promoting good health. This includes high fructose corn syrup, modified cornstarch, and hydrogenated soybean oil.

In one sandwich, you will be consuming 260 calories from 8 grams of fat, 35 mg of cholesterol, 730 mg of sodium, 32 grams of carbs, 3 grams of sugar, and 17 grams of protein.

While these sandwiches are lower in calories, cholesterol, fat, and sugar than the other Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches available at Costco, they are significantly higher in both sodium and carbs.

They’re definitely not as unhealthy as their croissant counterparts, but it would be risky to consider them a healthy choice.

Red’s Egg’Wich

The most unique part of these Red’s breakfast sandwiches is that two egg patties replace the muffin, croissant, or bun. This makes them a low carb option for anyone sticking to a low-carb, high-protein diet.

As you can see, these breakfast sandwiches utilize a much simpler recipe than the Jimmy Dean sandwiches available at Costco. If you’re looking for a relatively healthy and lean breakfast sandwich to stock up on, this one is your best bet.

In each sandwich, you will be consuming 190 calories from 12 grams of fat, 265 mg of cholesterol, 640 mg of sodium, 3 grams of carbs, 1 gram of sugar, and 17 grams of protein.

Needless to say, these egg sandwiches are super low in carbs and sugar. They’re also lower in calories than either of the Jimmy Dean sandwiches we looked at above.

That said, they’re still on the high side when it comes to sodium and fat, and they are particularly high in cholesterol because they are made primarily with eggs. If you’re trying to watch your sodium, fat, or cholesterol intake, then these breakfast sandwiches are probably not the best go-to breakfast for you.

Cooking Instructions

Lucky for us, all of these breakfast sandwiches are super simple to prepare. All you have to do is keep them in your freezer until you’re ready to eat, and then pop them in the microwave. 

To prepare any of these frozen breakfast sandwiches, simply follow these steps…

  1. Remove your breakfast sandwich from the wrapper
  2. Wrap the sandwich in a paper towel (dampen the towel slightly for best results)
  3. For the Jimmy Dean sandwiches, microwave at 30% for one minute and 30 seconds, then turn the sandwich over and continue microwaving on high for another minute
  4. For the Red’s Egg’Wich, begin by microwaving on high for one minute, then turn the sandwich over and continue microwaving for one more minute or until the sandwich is thoroughly hot
  5. Let the sandwich sit for about one minute to cool off before eating

Overall, breakfast sandwiches sold at Costco have received mixed reviews from shoppers.

The most popular one by far is the Bacon, Gouda & Egg sandwich from Grace Gourmet. But as noted above, supplies have been hard to find lately.

The three sandwiches we looked at in this article definitely have a following, but they’re not known for being the most amazing breakfast sandwiches in the world.
