How Does Costco Deliver Furniture?

The first thing to know about Costco furniture delivery is that the process works differently depending on whether you buy your furniture online or in person at a Costco Warehouse location.

Buying In Store

When purchasing furniture at Costco in person, the customer is responsible for coordinating the delivery of their furniture item(s). Costco does not arrange delivery of furniture or appliances purchased on site.

Companies like Dolly and GoShare offer third-party delivery services for large items purchased at Costco Warehouse locations. Both companies offer same-day delivery for Costco members.

But before you think about paying someone else to deliver your furniture for you, remember that you can always transport your purchases yourself as long as you have a large enough vehicle. Maybe you have a friend or relative who would be willing to lend you their truck for the day.

If not, try looking into the price for renting a truck from a place like Home Depot. Renting a truck and hauling your items yourself could end up saving you money on delivery fees in the end.

Buying Online

If you purchase your Costco furniture on Costco.com, you will be given a range of options for scheduling in-home delivery or even installation if necessary and desired.

Costco offers curbside delivery, threshold delivery (the first dry/covered location on your property), room-of-choice delivery, and white glove delivery (which includes assembly, inspection, and removal of packing materials). Room-of-choice delivery is the most common option for Costco furniture deliveries.

For online orders, Costco delivers large items like furniture and appliances using their internal delivery service, Costco Logistics. Costco Logistics was originally acquired by Costco Wholesale in March 2020 as Innovel Solutions for $1 billion.

Costco offers in-home delivery and installation for large furniture items such as patio furniture, mattresses, chairs, office furniture, beds, dining room furniture, tables, sofas, and more.

Costco Furniture Delivery Charges

For any order exceeding $35 and shipped with standard shipping, Costco does not charge shipping or delivery fees. This includes room-of-choice furniture delivery, which is available to Costco members at no extra charge. However, if you select white glove delivery, you will be charged a $50 delivery fee.

Keep in mind that Costco’s shipping and delivery policies and prices only apply to items shipped within the US, as Costco does not ship internationally. If you live in Canada, you can shop on Costco.ca to have items delivered locally in your area.

If you decide to use a third-party delivery service for your in-store furniture purchases, prepare to pay a pretty penny.

Third-party delivery companies Dolly and GoShare typically charge between $150 and $300 for furniture delivery within a short distance. This cost covers approximately two hours of work. If you live further away or if you need more than one item delivered (requiring multiple trips or a larger vehicle), you might be charged more.

Scheduling Your Furniture Delivery

Scheduling a Costco furniture delivery will look different depending on how you buy your furniture. Here, we’ll go over how to schedule a delivery through Costco Logistics when you order furniture on Costco.com as well as how to schedule through Dolly or GoShare when buying Costco furniture at a Warehouse location.

Scheduling Third-Party Delivery

As we mentioned above, large items purchased in store at a Costco Warehouse location must be picked up and transported either by the customer or by a third-party delivery service. Costco does not arrange delivery for items purchased in store.

The easiest way to transport your furniture from Costco to your home is to move it yourself. However, if you don’t have a vehicle large enough to do this, you can use a third-party delivery service such as Dolly or GoShare.

  • Dolly

To schedule a delivery with Dolly, visit this link and select “Store Delivery.”

Next, select your pick-up and delivery locations using the map on the screen.

Dolly will then provide you with a delivery cost, at which point you can decide whether or not to proceed with the process. If you decide to proceed, you can select your desired delivery time, which can be within just a couple of hours.

Once you have scheduled your delivery, simply wait for your item(s) to be delivered to your selected address.

  • GoShare

To schedule a furniture delivery with GoShare, simply visit this link and begin entering your location information.

As you proceed through the steps, GoShare will ask you about the item(s) you need delivered and what type of vehicle you’d like to hire.

Once your delivery is scheduled, all you have to do is wait for your furniture to arrive at your home.

Return And Exchange Policy

Costco is well known for its ultra flexible return policy which allows customers to return just about anything for any reason no matter how long it’s been since the original purchase.

This 100% satisfaction guaranteed return policy applies to all furniture purchased at Costco by Costco members. Unfortunately, non-members who purchase items online are not eligible for returns as Costco’s return policy only applies to customers with active (paid) memberships.

Costco furniture also comes with a warranty covering materials and workmanship defects for up to 90 days after purchase. This means that if your furniture does not live up to its manufactured expectations within this time period, Costco will arrange to have your furniture replaced. After these 90 days have passed, you will still be eligible for a refund, but you will no longer be eligible for product replacement.

What Types Of Furniture Does Costco Sell?

You can browse a wide range of furniture options on Costco.com any time, including living room furniture, bedroom furniture, office furniture, kitchen and dining room furniture, and kids’ furniture, including nursery and baby items.

The furniture available on Costco.com comes from name brands such as Sealy and La-Z-Boy, plus many more.

When shopping in person at a Costco Warehouse location, you can find different furniture offerings depending on your local Costco’s inventory. Many Costco locations stock items such as patio furniture, couches, mattresses, and more. However, you can often find a wider selection of furniture online.

As far as we can tell, it’s hard to find evidence of customers not being satisfied with their Costco furniture purchases. So, if you’re looking for quality furniture that will stand up to daily use and not break the bank, Costco seems like an excellent place to shop.

FAQs

Should you tip Costco furniture delivery workers?

If you want to, yes. Tipping is not required, but you can certainly tip your delivery workers if you choose. If your furniture is delivered by GoShare, the company recommends tipping between 5% and 10%. Dolly also strongly encourages tipping, recommending tipping $20 per delivery worker.

When is Costco’s semi-annual furniture sale?

Costco typically holds two furniture sales per year, one in late July and another in late December. These sales make summer and winter the best times to buy furniture at Costco.

Does Costco offer furniture financing plans?

No. Costco does not offer financing plans. However, you can apply for a Costco Anywhere Visa Card from Citi to enable you to make large purchases.

Does Costco deliver to non-members?

Yes. If you order furniture online from Costco.com, you can still have it delivered even without a membership. However, non-members are charged a 5% fee on the total amount of all purchases made without a membership. There are also certain items that only members can purchase online, so there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to purchase the item you want without a membership.
