Aldi is Selling a Frozen Version of Mexican Street Corn

This frozen elote is an amazing summer side dish with grilled food!

Street corn is having a moment. A common street food in Mexico, the grilled corn is usually served right on the cob, with a stick stuck in for easy serving and eating.

While there are some variations out there, the corn is most commonly topped with mayonnaise, chili powder, cotija cheese, cilantro, and a generous squeeze of lime juice.

It’s delicious on it’s own, and we love it as a side with grilled chicken or steak.

Now Aldi is taking the “grill” out of street corn — making it an awesome side for a weeknight dinner!

Season’s Choice Steamed Elote Style Corn is due in stores on July 1 as an Aldi Find!

Aldi describes this package as fire-roasted, super sweet corn with cotija cheese, Monterey jack cheese, and chili spice.

OK, then. There’s no mention of mayonnaise or lime, so we’ll just have to see how close this comes when we get our hands on it.

Now, this isn’t the first version of frozen elote we’ve seen. Costco has sold a version described as “roasted corn coated in a sauce made with sour cream, chili powder, and a dash of lime. It comes with a packet of cotija cheese to sprinkle on top.

Alexia also had a frozen street corn with a cilantro-lime crema.

And, of course, Aldi’s cousin Trader Joe’s has frozen Mexican Style Roasted Corn. It’s package also makes reference to a “creamy sauce,” which we don’t see on the Aldi version.

Still, we can’t wait to get our hands on the Aldi Mexican Street Corn side dish and give it a whirl! Feel free to add your own mayo for a more authentic flavor.

One of our favorite Aldi snacks is also coming back to Aldi on July 1 – Seasoned Pretzels!
