You can go into Publix for milk and somehow end up standing in front of the bakery case debating whether you really need a slice of cake. We understand.
Publix has quietly built a dessert lineup with some serious fan favorites, from its famous bakery cakes and Key lime pie to store-brand ice cream flavors that sound more like something you’d find at a specialty scoop shop.
We looked past the basic cookies and cupcakes to find the Publix desserts that are actually worth making room for in the cart. Some are longtime classics, while others are newer finds getting plenty of attention right now.
1. The Tiramisu Is Having a Moment
Publix Tiramisu has been around for a while, but this bakery-case dessert is getting fresh attention. Southern Living recently called it the one Publix dessert worth making a special trip for, and it’s easy to understand the appeal.
Instead of traditional ladyfingers, Publix uses coffee-soaked sponge cake layered with a rich cream cheese mixture and whipped topping. The result leans creamy and sweet without losing that coffee flavor that makes tiramisu so good.
Publix’s online store currently lists the 10-ounce version around $9.19, although prices can vary by location.
Why we’d grab it: It’s small enough that you don’t have to commit to an entire cake, but still feels a little more special than a standard grocery-store dessert.
2. Chantilly Cake Is Still the Bakery Star
There may not be another Publix dessert with quite the following of the Chantilly Cake.
Publix layers vanilla-almond cake with raspberry filling, fresh berries and mascarpone Chantilly cream. The combination keeps it from becoming the overly sweet sheet cake you might expect from a supermarket bakery.
And Publix hasn’t exactly been shy about expanding the Chantilly idea. The flavor now shows up in cupcakes, croissants and even ice cream.
Best for: Birthdays, showers or the person who says they “don’t really like frosting.”
3. The Original Key Lime Pie Is a Publix Classic for a Reason
If you’re shopping in the Southeast, a good Key lime pie isn’t hard to find. Publix’s version has still managed to become one of those desserts shoppers associate with the store.
The filling has that familiar sweet-tart lime flavor, while the graham-style crust keeps things simple. Publix’s current online listing shows the 34-ounce pie around $12.19 in several markets, though store pricing varies.
This is also one of the easiest desserts on this list to bring to a cookout or dinner because there isn’t much explaining required. Put it on the table and chances are someone already knows exactly what it is.
Worth knowing: Serve it very cold. The texture and tart lime flavor are better straight from the refrigerator.
4. Carrot Cake Is the Sleeper Pick
The Chantilly Cake gets most of the attention, but don’t walk past the carrot cake.
Publix sells it by the slice, which makes this a much easier impulse buy than committing to another full cake. The current version combines carrots, walnuts, sour cream and cinnamon with cream cheese frosting.
The 4-ounce slice has recently been listed around $4.41 online, depending on location.
It’s dense, rich and definitely more old-school bakery than trendy dessert — which is exactly why it belongs here.
Our move: Start with the single slice before buying the larger cake.
And we’re only getting started. The next couple of bakery finds are for anyone who believes chocolate and cream cheese should never be used sparingly.
5. Chocolate Ganache Supreme Lives Up to Its Name
This is the cake for the chocolate person in the family.
Publix’s Chocolate Ganache Supreme piles together layers of cake, chocolate whipped topping and ganache, then finishes the outside with an elaborate chocolate decoration. Publix says the round version serves roughly six to eight people.
It’s richer than the Chantilly Cake and considerably less subtle, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
Best for: Celebrations where “just a little piece” somehow turns into another slice.
6. The Raspberry Cream Cheese Cookie Is Not Your Average Bakery Cookie
Publix has been putting more effort into its oversized Decadent Cookies, and the Raspberry Cream Cheese version is one of the more interesting ones.
It starts with a cream cheese cookie and adds raspberry filling plus cream cheese icing on top. Publix introduced it alongside Vanilla Celebration, Double Chocolate and Double Cookies and Cream varieties.
This is definitely closer to an individual plated dessert than something you’d toss into a lunchbox.
Why it stands out: The tart raspberry keeps all that cream cheese from tasting one-note.
7. Peanut Butter and Jelly Ice Cream Sounds Strange Until You Try It
Now head to the freezer aisle.
Publix’s limited-edition Peanut Butter & Jelly Premium Ice Cream combines peanut butter ice cream, grape-flavored swirls and little PB&J cups.
And this isn’t just an interesting flavor on paper. A Reddit discussion posted September 20 praised the generous jelly swirl and peanut butter pieces, while other commenters singled out Publix’s store-brand ice creams in general.
It essentially turns the childhood sandwich into dessert, and somehow the idea works.
Who will love it: Serious peanut butter fans. If PB&J was your childhood comfort food, this is an easy one to try.
8. Maple Chocolate Chip Pancake Might Be the Wildest Flavor Here
Breakfast ice cream sounds unnecessary.
Then you read what’s actually inside this one.
Publix uses buttermilk-maple flavored ice cream with chocolate flakes, cake pieces and salty maple-caramel swirls.
The flavor has also generated some of the stronger recent online enthusiasm around Publix ice cream. One Reddit post praising it drew more than 150 upvotes, with the poster specifically calling out how well the maple flavor worked without taking over the entire pint.
What it tastes like: Imagine pancakes, syrup and chocolate chips turned into a very rich frozen dessert.
The freezer case is where Publix really starts having fun. The last four aren’t basic vanilla-with-a-few-mix-ins flavors.
9. Chantilly Cake Ice Cream Turns the Bakery Favorite Into a Pint

If buying an entire Chantilly Cake feels like too much commitment, Publix has another solution.
The Chantilly Cake Premium Ice Cream uses white-cake flavored ice cream with berry ribbons and almond-flavored cake pieces. It’s designed around the same general flavor combination that made the bakery cake famous.
You’ll get the berry-and-cake combination without needing a party as an excuse.
Why we’d try it: This may be the easiest introduction to Publix’s limited-edition ice cream lineup because the flavors are familiar without being boring.
10. Candy Bar Ice Cream Is Loaded With Just About Everything

Publix did not show much restraint with this one.
Candy Bar Premium Ice Cream starts with vanilla ice cream and loads it with peanut butter cups, milk chocolate pieces, baked chocolate truffles, pretzel bark and honey-caramel swirls.
That’s a lot happening in one pint, but it’s exactly the kind of mix-in-heavy flavor that makes people linger in front of the freezer case.
Best for: Anyone who normally chooses an ice cream flavor based on which container appears to have the most stuff packed inside.
11. Raspberry Elegance Ice Cream Is One of the More Grown-Up Picks

This one goes in a completely different direction.
Publix pairs white-chocolate flavored ice cream with raspberry sauce and white-chocolate raspberry cups. The flavor is a nod to the Raspberry Elegance Cake sold in the bakery, although Publix notes that the two aren’t meant to taste exactly the same.
Compared with PB&J or Candy Bar, Raspberry Elegance feels a little less playful and a little more like something you’d scoop into dessert dishes for company.
Easy upgrade: Add fresh raspberries on top and nobody needs to know dessert came straight from a Publix pint.
12. Banana Nut Bread Ice Cream Is Dessert and Comfort Food in One Pint

Banana ice cream can go wrong quickly when the flavor tastes artificial. Publix takes a more bakery-inspired approach here.
The Banana Nut Bread Premium Ice Cream combines banana-bread flavored ice cream with walnut pieces and swirls of banana sauce.
It lands somewhere between banana bread, banana pudding and ice cream, with the walnuts adding enough texture to keep every spoonful interesting.
Why it made the list: Of all the bakery-inspired Publix ice creams, this might be one of the best examples of taking a familiar dessert and turning it into something completely different.
