Heads Up! Publix Recalls More Products—Check Your Fridge / Pantry

It may be time to double-check your fridge and pantry. The popular Southeastern supermarket chain has recently issued a food recall—it is for Market Ground Beef sold at two Georgia locations—adding to a growing list of product safety concerns in 2025.

As of July 8, 2025, an additional product recall has been announced—details can be found at the end of this blog.

What’s Been Recalled?

Market Ground Beef tray packs sold at:

  • Limestone Marketplace Publix (Gainesville, GA) on June 26, 2025
  • Abernathy Square Publix (Sandy Springs, GA) on June 25, 2025

Recalled due to the potential presence of foreign material (specific contaminant not disclosed)

Important: Although it’s been over two weeks since the recall, customers are strongly urged to double-check their refrigerators in case the affected ground beef was frozen or stored.

  • No other store locations or dates are impacted.
  • All affected products were immediately removed from store shelves.
  • No illnesses or injuries have been reported at this time.

What You Should Do

If you purchased ground beef from either of the affected stores on those dates, do not consume it. Publix has removed all potentially contaminated products from shelves and advises shoppers to either discard the product or return it to the store for a full refund.

For questions, customers can contact Publix directly at 800-242-1227.

A Troubling Trend

These back-to-back recalls come amid a string of other food safety alerts involving Publix products this year. In 2025 alone, the retailer has recalled:

  • Ground beef and pork (January – foreign material)
  • Genova canned tuna (February – potential food poisoning)
  • Louisiana shell-on oysters (February – norovirus contamination)
  • GreenWise baby food (May – elevated lead levels)

While no injuries have been reported in the latest ground beef incidents, the frequency of recalls is raising concerns among consumers about the overall safety and regulation of our food supply. Experts warn that systemic issues like underfunded inspection agencies and supply chain instability may continue to contribute to future food safety challenges.
